Plans are in place to install the new processing system for cutting, washing and drying cabbage, carrots, beet, iceberg lettuce, and other salad leaves in Eitan, Israel, this autumn. Yossi Dahan from Katif Ha’aretz Hatova – the customer for which this special line was developed – recently visited the KRONEN headquarters in Kehl am Rhein, Germany, to examine the solution.
Kosher processing using state-of-the-art technology
The special thing about the system is the fact that it meets the strictest kosher requirements, for example by ensuring that insects, even tiny parts like eggs or wings, that end up in the wash water with salad leaves or vegetables are completely filtered out. As a result, processing with this system represents another important step towards achieving the highest kosher standards.
The processing line comprises a GS 20 belt cutting machine, twoGEWA 5000 PLUS HELICAL washing machines, the necessary PLUS inclined conveyor belts, and a K850 drying system with an infeed belt and buffer conveyor. It can process up to 2,500 kg of iceberg lettuce and 4,000 kg of cabbage per hour.
Successful approval at KRONEN
The company plans to use the line to produce various kosher salad mixes, which are packaged in bags and supplied to supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, and catering companies throughout Israel. Katif Ha‘aretz Hatova works according to Orthodox guidelines, and the company’s customers expect its products to meet the highest kosher standards.
Together with the KRONEN team and its Israeli representative DEUTSCH Group, Yossi Dahan checked that the system met all of the company’s demands before confirming the successful approval of the new processing line. Now that the solution has ticked all the boxes, it is ready to be shipped to Eitan as planned.
