Fruit and vegetable wholesaler Postuma AGF, Netherlands

The Dutch fruit and vegetable wholesaler Postuma AGF has put in operation an entire processing facility for vegetables in its newly opened company building. With this, the family business can provide a diversity of high quality fresh-cut products in-house to their customers, including fruit and vegetable specialists such as specialized shops and market traders as well as food service organizations, for example commercial kitchens. The equipment was delivered by Synergy Systems, the official distributor of the food processing technology provider KRONEN in the Netherlands.

The processing kitchen is mainly used to deliver high-quality fresh-cut vegetables. The range has already been significantly expanded with the new machines. Thus, the family business can offer a wide variety and a modern portfolio of high-quality fresh-cut products – such as vegetable rice, spiral vegetable noodles or Japanese pan-fried vegetables.

“Other players in the market cannot deliver the quality that we want to offer to our customers. By taking fresh-cut production in-house, we have more control over the process” that is how Project Manager Frans Bolder explains the decision of Postuma AGF to install an entire vegetable processing solution.

Since the beginning of this year, a processing line for cutting, washing and drying up to 1.000 kg vegetables including a GS 10-2, GEWA 3800V ECO and K50-ECO are operating in the modern building. In addition, further machines such as the potato peeling machines PL 25 K und PL 25 S, the cube, strip and slice cutting machine KUJ V and the packaging machine CP350 PLUS are used for different vegetable varieties and processing methods.

“We did not want to make any concessions on product quality. In addition, we wanted to be able to offer more variety in the future: more modern fresh-cut products and a wider range”, says Frans Bolder about the choice of the machinery supplier. "It was also important that we were accompanied by the entire process of change and all this has been implemented to our satisfaction to this day" says Frans Bolder.

Postuma AGF, located in IJsselmuiden in the Netherlands, is a family business with more than 100 years of experience in fruit and vegetable business. The company implemented a comprehensive quality management controlling the products’ taste, appearance, size and temperature according to strict standards. Furthermore, the company advises its customers on shop design, pricing and business strategies. The wholesaler’s goal is to be a leading supplier of potato, vegetable and fruit products by developing long-term customer relationships.
